The art of going offline

We're spending so much time online these days. School, work, shopping. "More-faster-better-repeat!" seems to be a modern world mantra.

Wait a minute.... Is that how you want to spend your days, live your life?

Not me. No way!

I'm going offline, and I want to take you with me. Will you join in?

If so, turn the computer or the laptop off, leave your smartphone on the desk. Put on your coat, your hat, your scarf and your boots. Open the door, sneak outside. Just for a moment. Five minutes will do. Two minutes. One. Close the door behind you.

How does it feel to look at the sky and not at the screen? To leave words and numbers behind? To breathe in cold fresh air and puff the white cloud as you breathe out? To hear the birds singing, the dogs barking? To see the familiar trees leafless but happy, deep in their own thoughts?

What can you see? Smell? Hear? What can you touch and what touches you?

Maybe you can notice something now that you haven't seen before because you were too busy to take time to have a look...

Enjoy.

You don't even need to go for a walk. No need to go past the gate. Just stay outside, take a break from being in a hurry.

Then come back to work, to another online class, to your shopping list.

If you want to, let me know how it was, this one-minute's break.

Task I

After being outside, finish these sentences:

 I saw...

I heard...

I smelt...

I touched....

...... touched me...

I felt.... when I got back home.

............   <= Add whatever you like.

Task II

Repeat the experience - go outside again :).
